Organizer
Central Florida Chess Club (CFCC)
The CFCC is the major United States Chess Federation affiliate in Central Florida dedicated to the advancement of chess to all people by means of club activities, instructions, school partnerships, and tournaments of all sizes. Contact: visit our website www.centralflchess.org or call (407)629-6946
Please note that all Florida residents that play in this event need to be current members of the Florida Chess Association (FCA). Players that have not joined here or recently elsewhere will have to do so or join on-site. FCA Memberships can also be purchased at floridachess.org or here.
To reserve a room at the hotel call (866)996-6338 and mention Chess to get the $99 rate. These rooms are no longer available on-line, but the hotel has agreed to honor that rate if you call directly.
Ray and Gary Robson have announced that they will be at the tournament on Sunday for a presentation of their new book "Chess Child". This book describes the development of Florida's Ray Robson from a three-year-old chess child to a 14-year-old grandmaster from the viewpoint of his father who had to adapt to meet the changing needs of his child. Ray will also put on some blitz demonstrations during the day.
As we enter the last two weeks for making early Hotel Reservations, the number of rooms in our room block is getting low. If you are unable to make a room reservation for the days you want using the online HR system, please call the hotel directly as they should be able to accommodate you. That number is 407-996-6338 or 866-996-6338
The Rosen Shingle Creek is the grandest site that we have ever used for a chess tournament. You may want to come early or stay a couple of extra days to take advantage of what they offer.
I invite you to visit their website at rosenshinglecreek.com and take virtual tours of their facilities. Then come and bring along the family for the recreation and spa, and stay longer for the award winning championship golf course, which can be seen from each of their 1500 rooms.
